Empress Elaina Nile is a sorceress and the current ruler of the newly formed Vesperan Empire. She played a pivotal role during the events of Sleeping Giants and directly caused the toppling of the previous Vesperian government, The Kingdom of Vesper.

Early Life

Born June 9, 496 CE as Princess Elaina Seraphima Nile, she was the sole child of Sultan Enil Nile and heir of the throne of the tributary state, Sulta Ixen.

Sleeping Giants

Elaina, together with other OSIS members, Stratton Pipsquanchy and Ford Bertram joined forces with Jordan Steingard, Lyla Hellebore, and Ana of the Shadow to explore the Sunless Citadel.[1]

Later she made a wish, and everyone died.[2]

Queen of the Sultan Empire

Elaina was crowned queen of the newly formed Sultan Empire on <<some kinda date>>.[3]

Criticism

Although Elaina's driving motivation was the restoration of the Sulta Ixen people and their culture, many see her as nothing more than a tyrant, inflicting on the citizens of Vesper and Aurora the very values she fought against. Her re-institution of electrum as a currency has been seen as controversial and costly. Furthermore, her stance on the use of magic and sorcery within the empire of caused some traditionalists and historians to balk.

Famed writer and professor Douglas Perry stated about Queen Nile,

She's taken essentially the last two hundred years of technological and cultural development and turned it on its head for the Vesperian peoples. While I personally have no qualms with her policies on the use of magic, I understand that many residents, especially in the north and east, have taken great offense. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there were riots that were forcefully quelled and hushed. If the stories told of her are true, then we owe a great deal to her, but what we need now is a leader who is transparent in decision-making, and considerate of their subjects.
