The Second Wish refers to the second wish made by the Risen during Sleeping Giants. It was preceded by The First Wish and succeeded by The Third Wish.
Wish Wording
The wish's exact wording, when spoken by Elaina Nile, was:
"I wish the seal on Hell was permanent without the use of Arcane Bridges."
Wish Effects
The effects of the wish were as follows:
You state your wish, and wait. Before long, you all experience another vision. You see a large structure that is white and dull, as if it were made from bone. The air surrounding it is reddish brown, the color of copper. The landscape that extends infinitely in all directions is black stone, angled in many different ways but never flat. Far on the horizon, surrounding this area completely, are large white pillars of light that extend from the ground far into the sky. You cannot see where they end.
Sitting atop a throne carved directly out of the white bone material that this structure is created from, is a woman. She is adorned in priceless jewelry, silks, and other finery, and is a vision of beauty by any standards. Her dark skin, wings, forked tail, and horns give her away as something other than human. Both of her wrists are connected to the throne upon which she sits, by a long chain made entirely out of light.
The woman notices something in the distance. From thin air, a massive creature appears on the ground, causing a small shockwave that kicks up debris and sends some nearby fiends tumbling. She stands from her throne and walks in the creature's direction, but is held back by the chains around her wrists.
Suddenly, the woman turns her face to shield her eyes. The pillars of light in the distance explode with a boom, one by one. But their explosions never dissipate. Instead, the sky rapidly changes from the copper color it was to a brilliant yellow-white. She pulls one of her hands up to shield her eyes, but it is stopped by the chain. She looks down at it for a moment, perplexed. And then she gives it a good solid yank. The chain of light crackles for a second and then explodes, propelling the woman forward a few feet. She stands up tall and wipes herself off, then continues walking toward the sleeping giant.
Your vision changes. You see a group of 5 humanoids standing on the angled black stone ground of this place, having some sort of meeting. A large portal floats next to them, spinning in the air. Your vision gets closer to all of the humanoids, and much to your surprise you recognize them. Four of them are grouped together, wearing near-identical uniforms of red and black. James Madsen, the man with no hands. Erki Timbers, the gnome with no memory. Maximilian Steingard, the fallen Paladin. And leading the group is none other than Athanatos. She is mid-conversation with the fifth person, High Priest Jostan Steingard, when the spinning portal collapses in on itself. A look of confusion and concern immediately flashes onto Jostan's face.
Back in the material plane, deep in an ever-growing basement, you see Aaron Donaldsson. A huge, six-legged creature is slithering through a similar portal when it slams shut on itself, slicing the creature clean in half. Aaron jumps back with a start, letting out a quick yell before silencing himself. He looks around, confused, then turns around to check on the rest of his collection. Much to his relief, each of the hundreds of magical cages that now line the walls of his huge basement still houses a living creature.
