Sleeping Giants Game 10
The heroes defeat the remaining goblins of the Durbuluk Tribe, before making their way back to Oakhurst to resupply and get some much-needed rest. While there, Ana communicates with the Shadow, Jordan meets Dem Nackle, OSIS smooths things over with Lady Hucrele and Lyla looks, unsuccessfully, for more info about her brother.
Intro
Nil's Vision
After making quick work of the hobgoblin leader and his companions, you set out to count up and distribute the post-combat rewards. You stand up after emptying the pockets of the second hobgoblin, only to realize that the entire room has grown dark, and all of your companions are completely motionless.
The violet light emanating from the circular shaft in the middle of the room grows brighter, and then begins to flicker as it follows a familiar voice, that you hear directly in your mind. “Excellent work, young one. You are making quick work of this fortress, and I always mean to reward efficiency. Tell me, which of these 3 would you prefer to see: something that was, something that is, or something that has not yet come to pass?”
After a ponderous moment, you respond. “The future.”
The room around you goes completely dark, even to your magical sight. It then brightens suddenly, and the area around you has completely changed.
You stand in a circular room, with well-polished stone walls and floors. The ceiling is a tall dome that disappears into a fog, and the entire room is lit but not a candle or torch is within sight. In the middle of the room sits a wooden table, with five seats surrounding it. Atop the table is a large map; from your vantage point you can see that it is the entire land of Dormia, and is covered in a series of differently colored symbols and runes.
Each of the five seats currently holds a person, but most of their faces are not visible, blocked out by whatever magic is providing this vision. From their body types, you would judge it to be one human woman, a dark-skinned elven man, a gnomish lady, a small cloaked figure that you cannot discern, and a gaunt, yellow-skinned humanoid the likes of which you’ve never seen before.
There is one face you can see, however. And that is the face of the dark-skinned elven man. He has the sharp features that elves are typically known for, and long white hair that flows over his shoulders and down his back. He is wearing intricately woven, dark blue robes, and has a long golden staff leaning against the table next to him.
He is mid-sentence when the scene begins, and you hear him say “…first bridge was closed, so I’ll go to investigate. Gaerzith, can you ensure-”, he is cut off by a sudden ringing noise, as if a bell is being shaken. He immediately begins looking around the room hurriedly, until he makes direct eye contact with you. He stands from his seat and clutches his staff. You hear him mutter the word, “No” and the top of the staff erupts in a blindingly bright blue light. You shield your eyes from it, and when you finally come to, you are surrounded once more by your companions, fully in motion.

"DAY 3 ~8:00 AM - 1/5/513"
- Opens with Nil - mental vision with an Elf talking to her
- The group investigates the remaining room off of the room with the well
- There are many goblins (34) in the room, large room. Filled with stuff as well. Another door is in this large room and appears to be boarded up door from the pillared room.
- The goblins in this room appear to be mainly villagers - elderly, women, not of fighting age. Some have weapons.
- Initiatives rolled (mostly very low)
- Lyla attempts to frighten the goblins within the doorway, and SUCCEEDS! But 2 aren't affected - one hits for some damage, but but she uses Hellish Rebuke, which sadly fails - he takes 1/2 damage. BUT IT KILLS IT!
- 2 goblins fire at Jordan, one hits
- Ana steps in, 2 arrows miss her, she shoots arrows -> CRIT 1 - perm disadvantage when firing an arrow at goblin archers below 10 HP
- Ford misses with sword
- 2 attack him, one hits for 6 damage
- Nil hits goblins with thunder damage. 3 die, the other 2 take 1/2 damage
- Stratton fires arrow at a goblin for 8 damage!
- The goblins by the barricaded door finally break through the barricade and start to leave through the door to the pillared room. Ford tries to stop them, but misses
- Nil and Stratton hit the same goblin trying to run, he's still up somehow!
- One goblin escapes down the pillar room out the door at the far end
- Stratton uses 'Runaway' by his alias, Bruno Mars to deal 1 damage to a runaway goblin
- 2 goblins run away and are followed in hot pursuit by Jordan and Ford. Nil attempts to follow but is too slow :(
- Ford takes the larger of the 2 down with an arrow
- The smaller of 2 continues to run and gets out of sight of Ford. Ford follows and eventually finishes it off
- Erki finds her possessions in a large discard pile in the goblin room
- SWAG: Healer's Kit, Poisoner's Kit
- ANA uses syringe to take the necromancy goblin blood for samples
- Stratton: Finds a shield in pile from goblins
- Agate statue found of Elven deity "Ellen Corellen"
- Medium chain shirt (too big for Stratton :( )
- 4 "pretty nice" paintings worth 10gp each
- Erki re-emerges in proper Skyhammer garb - she found her things in the pile
- Nil finds a note behind one of the paintings
- Ana checks needle which continues to point in a downward angle towards the kobold room
- Nil shows the found note to Ana, then Ana reads it aloud to the group
- Stratton asks Ana what the note means to her
- Rolls an insight CRITICAL 1!
- From here on has disadvantage on insight checks against Ana and has no idea if she understands what the note says
- Rolls an insight CRITICAL 1!
- Ford finds a Frost Giant Strength Potion!
- Strength becomes 23 for an hour!
- Given to Jordan because he's the only one that uses strength
- Ana questions Erki more about her past but she still doesn't remember much
- Nil notices an added aura from Erki's shield
- Stratton collects more arrows = total 50 + magic 1
- Nil checks the well again from the other room. It's still lit with a faint purple glow. No glow from the aura. It appears to be a glowing fungus. Shaft goes 80 feet down
- Lyla sees that the fungus is safe, edible, and glowing
- Lyla eats some, nothing happens
- Nil sees the dead hobgoblin down there AND! a large furry creature standing next to the dead body. A BUGBEAR! Staring up at Nil! He sees her and walks away.
- Nil tells the others this. We are told that there appears there is a passage of some sort down the passage!
- It's now about 9am - this level of the Sunless Citadel is now cleared of enemies! (Dragon is no longer here!)
- There are a couple of doors not yet investigated - dragon doors - red fish and white?
- It's decided the group will go back to the town to resupply and check in with the woman who hired OSIS. Show/give her the jewelry/stuff found expected to belong to her children.
- At this time, it's about 9:00 AM
- Before leaving, Nil gives a small ceremony to "Zelda" for her assistance in killing the remaining goblin that had been running away.
- We all make it back to town.
- Ana and group go to Lady Hucreal again to check in
- Ana asks what potions she has available for sale?
- Some minor healing and a potion of poison
- Ana gets upset at the price of the poison and tells Hucreal that her kids are dead (not necessarily true) and storms out. Hucreal is shocked... no indication that Ana is a part of our group
- Ana tells OSIS that she upset Hucreal. Nil makes decision not to do anything about this
- OSIS gets to general store
- Jordan, Erki, and Lyla are still on the way into town
- OSIS walks into general store to see Hucreal in tears
- We ask her what's wrong and she says that Ana told her her kids are dead
- OSIS sets the story straight
- Ford shows her the ring (signet) and states that OSIS is on the trail, found leads, and have come back to town for more supplies
- Stratton tells Hucreal about hte goblins, kobold, and dragon. Asks for a trinket or something to prove to her children we're working for her to save them, as well as more supplies
- 3 potions of healing given - one for each of OSIS. We previously agreed on 60gp per day. She pays for the 2 days - 120 gps (40 to each of OSIS)
- She holds onto the signet ring
- Stratton buys small chain mail shirt for 45 gp! Total = 188gp
- Now Stratton has a shield and chainmail shirt for armor
- Ford buys another healer's kit
- Stratton asks for special arrows, but she doesn't have any
- FORD gives a healer's kit to each of OSIS
- Stratton finally gets a chance to tell Nil and Ford about the extra/secret swag he found before: Dragon jade figure (20 sp), crystal goblet (5gp), 24 silverware (1gp each)
- OSIS checks out and says we'll check back in again soon
- Jordan goes to a nearby church to pray
- Erki goes with him. Jordan asks her some questions. It's decided that her job isn't finished yet. She's going to continue tagging along.
- Jordan asks Dem Nackle (the town priestess) she has any healing potions and gets 2 healing potions from her.
- Any additional creature sightings? Dem says no.
- Ana goes to tavern to get a room. Ana checks in with her deity.
- Underdark? Check again later - mission is under the citadel, but not THAT far under the citadel
- Asked about weaponizing the goblin blood
- Asks about her encounter with Erki - a Thalosian? Background - wants info that the Shadow (her god) has about Erki and her lost memories.
- Shadow states the memory wipe was "part of the retrieval process."
- Her memory will not return
- Lyla goes to tavern and told the manager the party was back and we needed rooms.
- Asks Leslie again if anyone knows anything more about her brother? Nope not really
- The rooms and meals are still on the house while the investigation is ongoing
- Spend the whole rest of the day in town and LONG REST AGAIN!!!
- Jordan sends a message to Skyhammer tonight
- Stratton spends 10gp to keep the music box in operation (firestarter and mouse are taken apart again for their original supplies)
- Hit Die regained!
- Health regained!
- 250 exp points gained! = 2050 now

- Next day will be DAY 4: 1/6/513. Wake up at 6/7am and will probably make our way back to the Sunless Citadel and get there around 10/11am...
